Checklist
The moving checklist that fits on one page.
What actually matters, in the order it matters. Print it, or just scroll it on move day.
Six weeks out
- Book the movers. Dates fill two weeks out in summer and at month-end.
- Tell your landlord or list the house.
- Decide what isn't coming. Sell it, give it away, or tick "same-day junk removal" when you book.
- Ask both buildings about elevator bookings and loading dock hours. Tell us now, not on move day.
Two weeks out
- Send your 60-second video for a fixed price.
- Book the elevator at both ends if the building requires it.
- Change your address: bank, CRA, driver's licence, MSI, subscriptions.
- Arrange internet at the new place. It takes longer than you think.
- Start packing what you won't use: books, out-of-season clothes, the good dishes.
The week of
- Pack everything but the kitchen and one bag per person.
- Label boxes by room, on the side, not the top.
- Eat the freezer. Defrost the fridge two days before.
- Confirm parking for a 15 ft truck at both ends.
- Reply to our 48-hour reminder text if anything has changed.
The day before
- Pack the kitchen. Wrap plates vertically, like records.
- Disconnect the washer, dryer and gas stove. Licensed trades for gas.
- Take apart anything you'd rather do yourself. We do beds and tables.
- Put the essentials bag by the door: documents, chargers, medication, a change of clothes, the kettle.
- Charge your phone. Everything about tomorrow arrives on it.
Move day
- Morning text: crew names, truck and ETA.
- Walk the place with the crew. Point out anything fragile or awkward.
- Sign the bill of lading on the crew's phone.
- Follow the truck on the map. Reply to any text if plans change.
- Walk the new place with the crew before sign-off. Check the photos if anything looks off.
